HND in Sport

Joshua, 21, has progressed through the levels on his sport qualifications and is now in the second year of an HND in Sport at the College’s Wigston campus. Joshua works for Leicester City Football Club as a coach within the Regional Talent Club. As part of this role, he works two evenings per week coaching, with games on Saturdays. Beatah is a mature student from Knighton and Eyres Monsell near Wigston, currently in the final year of a Level 6 programme in Visual Media at South Leicestershire College. Beatah moved to the UK from Zimbabwe more than a decade ago and has been working as a healthcare support worker. While continuing to work part-time in healthcare, Beatah successfully achieved an HND in Creative Media Production at the College and is looking forward to graduating with a BA (Hons) in Visual Media, awarded by Coventry University, at the end of her final year in 2018... Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

James, from Wigston, has a long association with the College, having completed the HND in Computing as a teenager. James had always enjoyed helping friends and family with their technology issues, so he decided to volunteer his services at the College, supporting students on the HND Computing course in the evenings after work. Through his volunteering, James developed a passion for teaching and was soon offered a job at the College. Robert, 26, from Bedworth, has worked in the engineering sector for ten years, completing his Level 3 apprenticeship at the College’s Nuneaton campus. He worked as a CNC Machinist for the Premier Group and for ADV Manufacturing in Coventry, signing up to study for an HNC in Engineering to further improve his skills and knowledge, and to equip himself for future promotion. Robert enjoyed the learning experience on his HNC course so much, he was inspired to re-think his career and last summer, he returned to the College as a lecturer in engineering... Foundation Degree in Working with Communities and Young People

Kamen decided to take up his Foundation Degree in Working with Communities and Young People following difficult experiences when he was younger that led to him moving into supported accommodation. He was helped to gain his independence and had been working in an administration job but redundancy made him re-think the direction of his life and career. HND in Computing

Sam, aged 19, from Leicester, is studying for an HND in Computing at South Leicestershire College. He joined the College on a Level 3 diploma and his tutor recommended him for progression on to an apprenticeship with Next plc as part of its IT Academy scheme. Based part-time at Next’s Enderby headquarters, Sam combines his role with part-time study at the College. He has already completed his HNC in Computing and is now in his second year. HND in Fashion and Textiles

It was while she was studying tourism and making uniforms for her peers that Meryeme, 32, from Nuneaton, was inspired to change direction and choose a different path that led her into fashion design. She had always loved fashion, so she decided to make a commitment to a career in the industry. Starting with the Level 3 diploma, Meryeme went on to complete an HND in Fashion and Textiles and is now at Walsall College where she will complete the final year of a BA. Meryeme had no problem designing clothes but her course helped her to overcome the challenges of making the items and bringing her designs to life... Level 6 CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply

Chloe, 28, from East Goscote, is looking forward to adding a higher-level qualification to her CV when she completes her Level 6 CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply. Chloe chose to start work at 17 rather than going to university and has already added a number of other qualifications to her CV through workplace training with her employer, ESPO. She achieved NVQs at Levels 2 and 3 in business administration and IT before moving into her purchasing role with ESPO, a public sector professional buying organisation owned by six local authorities. In her role as Procurement Officer, Chloe has already successfully achieved CIPS qualifications at Level 4 and 5 which are essential in her job role... Access to HE Humanities

Amanda, 59, from Stoke Golding in Leicestershire, was a student on the Access to HE Humanities programme at the Nuneaton campus where her studies included English language, English literature, politics, history and academic studies. Amanda had taken other college courses in the past and knew that the College had a strong reputation. Inspired by her son, who had just successfully achieved a Level 3 Journalism qualification, Amanda decided to return to education. Amanda said: “Everything about the course was excellent and highly enjoyable. I found each subject fascinating and narrowing down the subjects I wanted to pursue was tough. The teaching staff were exemplary, and I felt that I was in safe hands.
