Celebration of Achievement

 

An annual night of celebration for North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College!

 

The Celebration of Achievement is North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire’s annual awards ceremony and graduation is a key highlight of the college’s annual events calendar.

The event brings together students, staff and their families and friends from the newly merged colleges together under one roof to celebrate their amazing successes and achievements from the academic year.

Our most recent event took place at the impressive Athena in Leicester on Tuesday 29 November, where students from the North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College group gathered to receive a variety of awards.

Event Highlights

  • A graduation ceremony for those students who have recently completed a Higher Education course with NWHC or SLC. 
  • An awards ceremony, ‘STAR awards’ for those from each college directorate who excelled during their further education course, awards included the:
  • 14-16 Rising Star (incorporating all 14-16 provision, including Inspire)
  • Student of the Year – Business & Professions
  • Student of the Year – Core & Foundation Studies
  • Student of the Year – Creative Arts & Digital Technologies
  • Student of the Year – Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing
  • Student of the Year – Health & Life Sciences
  • Student of the Year – Transport (including FLT), Logistics & the Built Environment
  • Student of the Year – Sport & Service Industries
  • Apprentice of the Year – Business & Professions
  • Apprentice of the Year – Creative Arts & Digital Technologies
  • Apprentice of the Year – Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing
  • Apprentice of the Year – Health & Life Sciences
  • Apprentice of the Year – Transport (including FLT), Logistics & the Built Environment
  • Apprentice of the Year – Sport & Service Industries
  • Adult Learner of the Year
  • Competition Squad Star Winner
  • Bright Star Award (cross-college – for students who are an excellent role model to their peers)
  • Principal’s Prize Student of the Year (cross-college – for exceptional students who have gone out of their way to develop themselves and achieve)

Those who triumphed in last year's WorldSkills UK competitions also collected awards recognising their success.

  • Guest Speaker - Kamal Hyman, one of the youngest professional speakers in the UK also joined us to deliver his inspiring ‘Aim a Little Higher’ speech.
  • Student Performance – NWHC Creative Arts Students performed for award winners and guests, staging a poetry reading, dance piece and singing performance.
