Report on the Public Consultation - 29 June 2016
Building on the success of our current Federation, our two good quality colleges have proposed to become a single legal entity by merging. Our two governing bodies believe that the merger will help us do more and better, by being sharply focused on excellence and as one college being highly responsive to our local communities and employers across the South and West Leicestershire and North Warwickshire areas. We have strong evidence that by becoming a merged college, we will be more cost-effective and be able to maintain a rich diverse offer of further and higher education courses and apprenticeships. We also believe it will be easier for our partners to engage with one college so that jointly we can create more valuable opportunities to raise the education and skills within our localities.
We have conducted a formal consultation during March and April 2016 on our proposed merger (including the technical dissolution of South Leicestershire College). We also consulted on the proposed legal name of the College Corporation.
This follow-up report details the responses received during the consultation.
Thank you to all those who considered our proposals and responded to our consultation.
Toni Fazaeli, Chair of South Leicestershire College
Prof. Peter Lavender OBE, Chair of North Warwickshire and Hinckley College
