LifeWorks

LifeWorks is a dedicated and exclusive facility based at the Nuneaton campus, aiming to develop independent living skills and raise employability for students aged 19-24 with Education Health and Care Plans.

Funded as part of a grant from Warwickshire County Council, LifeWorks modern facilities include a training flat where students can learn how to cope in the wider world, a therapies area to help build resilience and positive mental health, plus a working café.

The LifeWorks programme aims to provide students with a transition between finishing academic study at college and entering the workplace, developing their creativity and business skills.

Topics covered in the programme include:

Teaching and Learning

LifeWorks students enjoy the use of a teaching suite devoted entirely to the deliverance of the programme. Students will be based at LifeWorks on a four-day study programme, one of those days will be a work experience placement.

Teaching takes place in small groups, with both lecturers and additional support staff present in all sessions. Learners are encouraged to work towards personal targets, with the learning experience individualised as much as possible.

Students also enjoy access to a 'chill-out zone', available for use during break and lunch times, or as respite from structured sessions if required.

Work Experience

Work experience is a core component of the course and all learners are encouraged to make placement choices based on their individual skills, abilities, and interests. Our current LifeWorks students are undertaking work placements in a range of industries, including catering, gardening, retail, and animal care.

Additional support can be provided at work placements by college staff if required.

LifeWorks will be a focal point for potential employers and community organisations, who can build a relationship with Hub users. They can explore new employment, internship, work experience and community volunteering opportunities.
