Can I get help from you?
If you think we could help you, then you should let us know so that we can arrange to meet you.
You can do this in a number of ways:
- Tick the box on the admissions form to identify that you have a learning difficulty, or a disability. Once you have done this we will either contact you ourselves or we will meet you at your course interview;
- Contact the Learning Support Team;
- Arrange with one of our team to talk to you about your concerns.
Remember that anything that you talk to our team about will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Once we have met you, if you agree, we may arrange an assessment to help us to provide you with one or more of our services to meet your learning requirements.
The things we do are to make your stay with us more enjoyable and to help you achieve to the best of your ability.
Why will I need an assessment?
To help you, we need to know what issues you are having, and you are the best person to advise us about this.
We use the assessment to get to know you and find out about the issues you are having with your learning, and how you think we might be able to help. Together we will explore the best way to support you, but anything we do will only be done with your permission.
What sort of assessments do you do?
We use different assessments to tell us different things.
Students with Irlen/Dyslexia for example, will have an Irlen or Dyslexia assessment with our Dyslexia Co-ordinator.
We also provide informal assessments, where we discuss with the students, asking them about the difficulties that they have and how they think we might be able to help.
At the end of the assessment and with your help, we will be able to provide the most appropriate support for your learning.
