North Warwickshire & Hinckley College is committed to raising the health and well-being of students and staff through a Healthy College Environment

An individual’s well-being can be defined as a state of contentment based on five influences:

Psychological   

Mental health; Self esteem; Efficacy; Stress levels

Social                  

Status; Acceptance or affection from family, friends, colleagues or community members

Occupational     

Activities; Work; Education; Leisure activities

Physiological    

Physical sensations such as fatigue, cold or hunger; General health; Fitness

Material               

Finances; Home environment; Working conditions; Transport 

Increasing levels of well-being also lead to higher levels of health, satisfaction, happiness and fulfilment.

 Individuals who describe themselves as having improved well-being are also likely to be more productive, have higher levels of motivation, and have greater levels of emotional resilience.

How can a college improve my well-being?

North Warwickshire & Hinckley College acknowledges that it has a significant impact on the health and well-being of its learners and staff.

With this in mind, a Health & Well-being Task Group has been created to

develop clear stated objectives addressing the health and well-being of staff and learners.

 Facilities for well-being currently include:

  • Free Sport & Fitness Centre for students and staff
  • Sexual Health Nurse
  • Counsellors
  • Seventh saver scheme-salad reward scheme
  • Sports enrichment programme
  • Free water stations throughout the College
