UK Skills

UK Skills is a not-for-profit organisation which champions vocational skills and learning for work through competitions and awards.

UK Skills is funded primarily by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) and works closely with the devolved administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The organisation was established in 1990 with the purpose of raising skill levels in the UK through skills competitions and managing the UK team for the biennial WorldSkills Competition.  In 2001 it became responsible for managing the National Training Awards on behalf of DIUS.

In 2006 UK Skills spearheaded the UK’s successful bid to host the WorldSkills Competition in London in 2011.

UK Skills is involved in the WorldSkills UK, WorldSkills London 2011 and WorldSkills Competitions projects.
