Hinckley campus rebuild

New College campus for Hinckley

We have recently received full approval from the Learning and Skills Council for the rebuild of our Hinckley campus in Hinckley town centre. This exciting development has been achieved through close and effective partnership working with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.

The formalities of land transfer and the appointment of a construction partner are now complete so construction can begin in early 2010.

The new campus, which will deliver an exciting course offer in Performing Arts, Media, Graphic Design and Creative Arts, will be ready for opening in September 2011.

The College will occupy four levels stepping down the steeply sloping site in order to remain in scale with both the residential properties in Druid Street as well as the Goddard Building which faces onto Lower Bond Street.

Hinckley Campus Rebuild

The main entrance will be at the ground floor level facing Lower Bond Street with a library, cafeteria and studio theatre also located on the ground floor. Teaching rooms, studios and workshops will all be located on the upper floors. All the main rooms of the new College Building are to be arranged around a central atrium space which will extend up through the floors creating a sense of open and dramatic internal circulation spaces. Extensive use of glazing on the main elevations will create a light and welcoming building with excellent views, both out of the building and when the building is viewed from the outside public realm space.

The College is working with a team made up of:
